I must apologise for missing this weeks update. The fault is not all mine: my PC has been at a service center for almost a month. It came back last Friday, but in the mean time my comic buffer has run out.

I hope I’ll be able to finish a new page for next week. I’m still not happy my PC is working as it should.

A huge thanks for someone who has added a link to SpaceBoiz on Belfry comics list He/she made a comment that I seem more interested in drama than sex. Well that is not quite like that. Sex is Drama, you see.

Drama is about conflict. Most common ways of creating dramatic tension are sex and violence. When I was planning the script for SpaceBoiz I thought that having a group of gay pirates on a ship I need to have some sexual tension between them. Not just happy couples but some jealousy as well. I also had a notion of using sex as a way of releasing dramatic situations and carrying on the story.

My vacation is starting in couple of weeks and I honestly feel like a break from drawing comics. Since I haven’t managed to create enough of a buffer to get past that I have decided to use a short story I have ready as filler for this summer. Last weeks page feels like a nice cliff-hanger to leave SpaceBoiz for a while.

I came up with the story idea while reading old Ed Jenkins stories by erle Stanley Gardner last summer. The character of Ernest Blame a.k.a. The Fairy is a gay version of many heroes like Ed Jenkins or Simon Templar.

I decided to challenge myself to tell the story in just eight pages. My inspiration for that were Spirit stories by Will Eisner, but I didn’t quite manage with six  pages. Finally the story has been lying on my hard drive as line art when I couldn’t decide if I should do it in colour or greyscale. But for me the 1930′s is black and white movies so that sealed that.

So I am back again. Unfortunately I am also down with a cold. I have one more page of the Fairy left. After that I will start with SpaceBoiz again.

Looking at my calendar I realised my work will require a lot more travel than usual. This may mean less regular updaes in the near future as well.

Better late than never: I have been away on business for most of last week and previous. As I will be on the road show again next week, I might not be able to get a new page ready.

Scetch for an alien character

I hope you’ll forgive me for missing today’s update; today’s my birthday after all!

Last week was hopefully the last one that I was away on business. As a result I have only pencilled the next page. So I decided to give you this sketch for a furry alien character and even that is incomplete. I’m planning for him to appear in chapter 6.

It’s time again for a holiday special. I decided to put it up already, as today is time for a regular update but there is just one day till Christmas. I will be  away for the holidays so next update will be in Janyary.

p.s. Lutefisk is traditional dish for christmas in Scandinavia and I hear in Minnesota too. It’s an aquired taste…

I have spent some time during the holidays to update this site. The new look is very much thanks to ComicPress 2.5. Unlike last time I did not change the theme exept for the stylesheet and sidebar. There are some nice new features, like Gravatars so you can get an avatar next to your comment if you register at the Gravatars site. Another new feature is a gallery where I can show some extra art, or even guest art<HINT/>.

Another change is, that I got Manga Studio 4.0 EX for Christmas. I am trying to learn to use it, but already it seems to much better for comics than PaintShop.

I’m going on a short vacation so there is going to be no updates this or next week.

As you probably guess I’m back from my vacation. I visited Hong Kong with my husband. Big Hello to anyone there, we enjoyed our time there very much!

I’m still keeping you in suspense over what the boiz are seeing on their radar screen…
