Wellcome to Space Boiz comics!

Wednesday, March 29th, 2006

I have been drawing since I was a kid. My earliest lessons in cartooning and comics were from my cartoonist father and copying from my old Donald Duck comic books. Therefore it was not surprising that I wanted to get into an art school. This was not to be, after three attempts I abandoned arts studies in favour of my other great interest, computers.I continued to make drawings though. But in the early 90′s my job as a network administrator took over. I haven’t given up yet, so here I present some of my work.

My great heroes in cartooning are Ralf König, Howard Cruse and Carl Barks. And I shouldn’t forget Tom of Finland.

Site improvements

Wednesday, May 3rd, 2006

I have been busy working on this site. Most of the improvements are pretty invisible tweakings to make it easier to manage in the long run. Plus I’ve added some votebuttons. I mean to get links page out soon, and should start working on a cast page. But drawing the comic must come first, so it’s slow going.

Cast and Links page

Tuesday, June 6th, 2006

I have finally finished the cast page as well as the links page. Some of the delay was due to the way Internet Explorer was interpreting my style sheet. Now it looks like I have it more or less under control.

I made the image here as a logo for the SpaceBoiz when I was planning the comic. I have not yet managed to use it in the comic, so I thought to put it here.

Tom of Finland

Tuesday, June 20th, 2006

Today I was invited to the opening of an exhibition of Tom of Finland’s drawings at the Helsinki museum of Art. The exhibition is quite awesome from a public institution. The opening was also covered by tv news. I’m quite happy that gay culture can get mainstream recognition like this!

Vote for SpaceBoiz!

Wednesday, August 23rd, 2006

I am happy to see how many visitors my comic has found. I hope you you like my effort. If you do, I would appreciate if you would click sometimes on the vote buttons. I am planning to put some scethes as vote incentives beginning next month!

New Years Day

Monday, January 1st, 2007

New Year has begun! I had planned to work on my site during the holidays, but unfortuately I fell ill and ruined my mother’s Xmas dinner. Now I’m up again, but the site needs to stay as it is. Fortunately I had couple of pages ready, so my updates are in schedule.

Happy Valentines Day!

Happy Valentines Day!

This day I feel like expressing my support for Gay Marriage. We have had a civil partnership for some years. I must say it has made our life together much easier. Besides it has made us feel almost like accepted.

SpaceBoiz is one year!

Thursday, March 29th, 2007

It is now one year since SpaceBoiz first came on-line. The first month it had about 20 readers but now the number has grown to about 2500.
Much of the time I have available for SpaceBoiz goes to creating the comic. It usually takes me about 5 days to draw one page, six if I count scripting. So there is not much spare time left for doing other stuff for this site.
